Properties

Crystals; gradually turns yellow to brown in air. mp 97°. bp 110°, partly decomposing. Freely sol in water, slightly in ether. Protect from light and air.

Caution

Irritates eyes, mucous membranes.

Use

For preparing pure acetaldehyde; in organic syntheses.
