Properties
Yellowish- or grayish-white odorless powder; darkens
on exposure to light. Softens under water at about 70°. Slightly
soluble in water or alcohol; sol in ethyl acetate, solns of borax
or sodium phosphate, or with gradual decompn in solns of alkali hydroxides
and carbonates. Incompat. Alkalies, iron salts.Therapeutic Category
Astringent (intestinal).
