Properties
Crystals from abs ethanol + ethyl acetate, mp 194-195°. Hygroscopic,
cakes together, and is converted in significant amounts of 2-aminothiazoline,
a transformation that can be detected by a drop in melting point by
as much as 30°. The animal organism appears to convert it to 2-mercaptoethylguanidine
hydrobromide. LD50 in mice (mg/kg): 100 i.v., 280 s.c., 480 i.p., 1600 orally (Pospisil).Therapeutic Category
Radioprotective agent.
