Description and references

Contains about 5% neutral aluminum acetate. Al(C2H3O2)3 = 0.66% Al, 4.4% acetic acid (1.25% Al2O3). Prepn from a dry mix consisting of an alkali metal acetate, acetic acid and a dibasic aluminum acetate stabilized with boric acid: Gibbons et al., US 2824042 (1958).

Properties

Colorless liquid; slight odor of acetic acid. Sweetish, astringent taste. d ≈1.002. pH of 1:20 aq soln 4.2.
