Properties

Dihydrate, colorless, odorless, transparent crystals or white granules; rapidly becomes reddish in the air due to liberation of iodine. Poisonous. d 5.15. Freely sol in water; the aq soln is neutral or slightly alkaline. Sol in alcohol, acetone. Keep well closed and protected from light.

In the manuf of other iodides.
