Prepd by the action of 2,4-pentanedione on an soln of beryllium hydroxide in dil acetic acid or on a soln of beryllium chloride in presence of ammonia: Biltz, Ann. 331, 336 (1904); Parsons, J. Am. Monoclinic crystals. mp 108°. bp 270°. d420 1.168. Practically insol in water; hydrolyzed by boiling water. Freely sol in alc, acetone, ether, benzene, CS2, other organic solvents.
