Properties

Lustrous, hygroscopic crystals; acid reaction; odor of nitric acid. d 2.83. Sol in water containing nitric acid; dec by water alone into subnitrate; sol in glycerol, dil acids including acetic acid, acetone. Practically insol in alcohol, ethyl acetate.

Use

Prepn of other bismuth salts, luminous paints; pptn of alkaloids. Trace metal analysis.
