Occurs in nature as the mineral bismite. Prepn: Gmelins, Bismuth (8th ed.) 19, p 109-113 (1927).
Properties
Yellow, heavy, odorless powder or monoclinic crystals;
stable in air. Practically insol in water; sol in HCl or HNO3.Use
In disinfectants, magnets, glass, rubber vulcanization;
in fireproofing of papers and polymers; in catalysts.
