Nomenclature

Tanbismuth; tannic acid bismuth derivative.

Description and references

Contains about 36% bismuth equivalent to 40% Bi2O3. Prepd from freshly pptd bismuth hydroxide and tannin: Hagers Handb. Pharm. Praxis Band 1, 685 (Berlin, 1930).

Properties

Yellow or brownish-yellow powder. Practically insol in water, alcohol, ether.
