Liquid, mp 36.5°. bp 137°, bp50 63.5-64°. d23 1.634. nD15 1.4697. Turns violet rapidly even in absence of air. Sparingly sol in water; sol in alcohol, acetone. Poisonous, flammable. Keep tightly closed and protected from light.

Violent lacrimator.
