Red-brown cryst powder or gray lumps. Dec by moist air or water, evolving spontaneously-flammable phosphine. d 2.51; mp ≈1600°. Dangerous when wet. Keep tightly closed. Poisonous.

Use

For signal fires; in purification of Cu and Cu alloys; as rodenticide.
