Powder or monoclinic crystals. Sol in water; slightly sol in methanol, ethanol; practically insol in acetone, benzene.

Use

As an inhibitor of molds and other microorganisms in foods, tobacco, pharmaceuticals; in butyl rubber to improve processability and scorching resistance.
