Properties

White, lustrous hexagonal or cubic prisms; saltpeter taste. d420 3.64-3.68. mp 414°; dec at higher temp. Oxidizer. Sol in 5 parts cold, 0.5 part boiling water; sol in acetone; very slightly sol in alc. LD50 i.p. in rats: 1.2 g/kg (Cochran).
