powder. Forms Co(OH)S in air. Sol in HCl. β-CoS: grey powder or
reddish-silver octahedral crystals. mp >1100°; d 5.45. Practically insol in water; sol in acids.Use
Catalyst for hydrogenation or hydrodesulfurization.
