Properties

White, cryst powder, gradually becomes pink. mp 168-171°. Very slightly sol in water; sol in hot alcohol, acetone, glacial acetic acid. Keep protected from light.

Use

As indicator for chromate and in titrating Fe; for the colorimetric determination of Cr, detection of Cd, Hg, Mg, aldehydes, emetine.
