Prepd by reacting ethanol, thiourea and ethylene dibromide and subsequent alka-line hydrolysis of the ethylenediisothiuronium bromide: Speciale, Org. Synth. 30, 35 (1950), modified procedure: Grogan et al., J. Org. Chem. 20, 50 (1955).
