Properties

Pale-violet to grayish-white, somewhat deliquesc crystals. mp 47°. Dec below 100°. d21 1.68. Oxidizer. Freely sol in water, alcohol, acetone; slightly sol in cold concd HNO3. LD50 orally in rats: 3.25 g/kg (Smyth).

Caution

Use

As mordant in dyeing, weighting silks, tanning; as reagent in analytical chemistry for phosphate determn; as corrosion inhibitor.
