Occurs in nature as the minerals: beraunite, cacoxenite, dufrenite, koninckite, phosphosiderite, strengite. Prepn from Fe(H2PO4)3: Remy, Boulle, Compt. Properties

White, grayish-white, or light pink, orthorhombic or monoclinic crystals or amorphous powder. Loses water above 140°. d 2.87. Practically insol in water. Slowly sol in HNO3; readily sol in HCl.

Use

As food and feed supplement, particularly in bread enrichment; as fertilizer.
