Properties
Bitter microscopic prisms from water, methanol
or 80% ethanol, mp 207°. [α]D25 24.5° (c = 1.75 in water). Freely sol
in hot water. Sparingly sol in cold water, methanol, ethanol, acetone,
ethyl acetate. Practically insol in ether, benzene, chloroform, petr
ether.
