Obtained by diazotizing aniline and then treating
with an aq soln of KI, or by the action of HNO3 on a mixture
of C6H6 and iodine.
Properties
Colorless liquid; rapidly becomes yellow; characteristic
odor. d415 1.8384. bp 188-189°. mp 30°.
nD18 1.621. Insol in water; miscible with
alcohol, chloroform, ether. Protect from light.
