Properties

White, odorless powder. d 3.82. Poisonous. Sol in ≈200 parts cold, 50 parts boiling water; also sol in alkali hydroxide and thiocyanate solns.

Use

Reverse dyeing with aniline black; manufacture of safety matches and cartridges.
