Properties

White, deliquese granules or fused masses; becomes yellow on exposure to air, due to liberation of iodine. mp 73°; mp 446° when anhydr. Sol in about 0.5 part water or alcohol, freely in amyl alcohol or acetone. The aq soln is neutral or slightly alkaline. Keep tightly closed and protected from light.
