Properties

White powder or cubic crystals. Very sensitive to moisture. d15 8.95. mp 645°. bp >650°. Turns yellow and hydrolyzes in the prolonged presence of water.

Dihydrate.

Properties

Obtained when mercuric oxide is dissolved in excess of 50% HF.

Use

In the fluorination of organic compds.
