Properties

Liquid. Pungent odor, suggestive of mushrooms, resembles odor of gardenias when dil. d415 0.8785 (commercial grade, d2525 0.864-0.868). bp 208-212°. nD20 1.4328 (commercial grade, nD20 1.422-1.426). Insoluble in water. Freely sol in abs alcohol and ether; 33 ml dissolve in 100 ml of 80% ethanol.

Note

The nonyl acetate of commerce may be the above compound or any of its isomers such as diisobutylcarbinyl acetate.
