Volatile oil from Hyssopus officinalis L., Labiatae. Constit. About 50% pinene, small quantities
of aromatic alcohol, probably also sesquiterpenes.
Properties
Colorless or greenish-yellow liquid; sharp, camphor-like
taste. d1515 0.925-0.940. αD20 -17 to -23°. bp ≈200°. Almost insol in water;
sol in 2 to 4 vols 80% alcohol. Keep well
closed and protected from light.
