Needles from dil alcohol. mp 191-192° (dec). Insol in cold water, in ether, chloroform, benzene, petr ether. Very sol in alcohol, acids, alkalies.

As a reagent for the determination of nickel, with which it gives an orange ppt in dil ammoniacal soln.
