Prepd by melting a mixture of phosphorus and
selenium in an atm of CO2 or N2: Carius, Bogen, Ann. 124, 57 (1862); Kudchadker et al., Can. J. Chem. 46, 1415 (1968).
Properties
Amorphous, glass, black-purple solid. Dec in
steam and boiling water. Reacts with CCl4; insol in carbon
disulfide.
