Properties

White, fine powder or crystals. d 2.27. Slightly sol in cold water. Insol in alcohol. In hot water it hydrolyzes to KF, HF, and silicic acid. pH of 1% aq soln 3.4.

Caution

Strong irritant. Ingestion can cause vomiting, diarrhea.

Use

In the manuf of opalescent glass, in porcelain enamels, in insecticides. Also used in aluminum metallurgy.
