Orthorhombic prisms from abs alc. d 1.503 (also given as 1.104 and 1.234). Rate of sublimation: Kempf, J. Prakt. Chem. [2] 78, 257 (1908). mp 119.6°; bp760 261°; bp400 237°; bp200 212°; bp100 189°; bp60 174°; bp40 163°; bp20 145°; bp10 128°. Sublimes at 115° and 5 mm pressure, at 92° and 1.0 mm pressure. Soluble in chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, alcohol; very slightly sol in ether and water.
