Crystals from butyl alcohol, methanol, mp 166.5-168°, (monohydrate, mp 104°). uv max (methanol): 263, 297 nm (E1%1cm 584, 762). Equilibrium soly in pH 5 buffer at 37°: approx 175 mg/100 ml. Soly increases with increasing pH. pK′ 6.9.
