Crystals from alcohol, glacial acetic acid, or ether, mp 295-297° (dec). Practically insol in water. Slightly sol in alc, glacial acetic acid; sol in ether, in alkali with a violet color.

Properties

Blue crystals, dec on exposure to air becoming partially insol. Freely sol in water; slightly sol in alcohol. Insol in ether. pH of aq soln is 9-10. Keep well closed and protected from light.
