Prepd by hydrogenation of 2-naphthol in the presence of a palladium catalyst: Foreman, Stork, US 2526859 (1950 to Lakeside Labs.); by reduction of 2-naphthol with sodium: Hueckel et al., Ann. 645, 162 (1961). Toxicity study: Draize et al., J. Pharmacol. Exp. Ther. 93, 26 (1948).
