Properties

Orange-yellow liquid. d420 2.688. mp 52°. bp773 138°; bp20 48°. Somewhat less stable than thionyl chloride. Dec slowly on standing in glass-stoppered bottles. Hydrolyzed by water. Miscible with benzene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride.

Caution

Highly irritating to skin, eyes, mucous membranes, respiratory tract.
