Prepd by interaction of isoamylamine and thymyl chloroformate: Zima, v. Werder, US 2524185 (1949 to E. Merck).

Properties

Needles from petr ether, mp 57°. Practically insol in water (<1:50,000). Upon alkaline saponification, it is split into isoamylamine and thymol (along with CO2).
