Prepd by neutralizing 50% formic acid with triethylamine and evaporating the resulting soln on a steambath for twelve hours at 20 mm: Alexander, Wildman, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 70, 1187 (1948).

Properties

Light brown syrup. Very sol in water. Sol in alc.

Use

In syntheses employing the Leuckart reaction.
