Description and references
Prepd by reduction of V2O5 with hydrogen or carbon monoxide.
Properties
Black powder. On exposure to air it is gradually
converted into indigo-blue crystals of V2O4.
d 4.87; mp 1940°. Insol in water; difficultly
sol in acids.Use
Catalyst, e.g., when making ethanol from ethylene.
