Fine white powder, mp 238-242° with decomp. d 1.12-1.14. Soly in water (g/ml): 0.1 at 25°; 10 at 80°; 20 at 90°. Slightly sol in methanol. Practically insol in acetone, chloroform, ethanol. pH (5% w/v aq soln at 90°): 8.3.

Use

Pharmaceutic aid (capsule and tablet lubricant). Food additive for dough and other baked goods.
