Description and references

Prepd by adding an alcoholic soln of gold chloride to a soln of hydrogen selenide: Moser, Atynsky, Monatsh. Chem. 45, 235 (1925); by passing hydrogen selenide into an aq soln of gold chloride: Uelsmann, Ann. 116, 127 (1860); by combination of elements in solns or melts: Kulifay, US 3026175 (1962 to Monsanto).

Properties

Black amorphous solid. d22 4.65. Dec by heat. Forms mercuric selenide when heated with mercury. Sol in aqua regia, soln of alkali sulfides.
