Obtained by the action of POCl3 upon guaiacol sodium: Kucherov, Zh. Obshch. Khim. 19, 126 (1949). Prepn of sodium salt: Auger, Dupuis, Compt. Rend. 146, 1151 (1908).

Properties

Crystals, mp 91°. bp3 275-280°. Practically insol in water, ether. Sol in hot alc, freely in chloroform, toluene, acetone.
