Properties

Prisms from ethyl acetate, mp 227-230°; or mixture of prisms and needles from methanol + water, mp 224-226°. [α]25589 38.5°; [α]25436 87.4° (c = 0.926 in chloroform). uv max (ethanol): 222, 247, 314, 325 nm (log ε 4.31, 4.60, 4.02, 4.01). Practically insol in water. Freely sol in alcohol, benzene, chloroform, slightly in ether, ethyl acetate.
