Description and references

Proved to be mercury oxonium sulfate in x-ray studies of its structure. The polymeric oxonium cations (Hg3O2)x form 2-dimensional infinite layers. The sulfate ions lie inside the loops of the wide-meshed cation lattice.

Properties

Lemon-yellow, heavy, odorless powder. Poisonous! Practically insol in water. Sol in acids.
