Crystals from methanol, mp 141°. Almost insol in water; sol in benzene,
chloroform, in hot alcohol, hot methanol, hot ether. A weak base.Derivative

Crystals from water, mp about 158°. Anhydr from abs alcohol, dec 253°.
One gram dissolves in 100 ml water at 25°; freely sol in hot water;
moderately sol in 95% alcohol. Aq solns are acid to litmus.Status
