Description and references
A folic acid factor that possesses high growth-promoting activity for Streptococcus lactis R (S. faecalis R), but almost none for Lactobacillus casei, chick and rat: Keresztesy et al., Science 97, 465 (1943). Properties
Light yellow platelets from aq ammonium acetate soln. Does not melt below 300°. Absorption spectrum: Rickes et al., J. Am. Chem. Soc. 69, 2749, 2751 (1947). Practically insol in water and the usual organic solvents. Sol in ammonia water, in aq solns of alkali hydroxides, and in pyridine.Status
