Description and references

Prepd by shaking a 30% ether soln of heptanal with an excess of 40% aq sodium bisulfite. Soln: Garay, US 3019161 (1962 to Baker Castor Oil Co., compd and method not claimed). General method of prepn: Lauer, Langkammerer, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 57, 2360 (1935).

Properties

Moderately sol in water. Somewhat sol in methanol. Practically insol in ethanol, ether.

Use

In antifungal compositions.
