Properties

Slightly bitter crystals, mp 226°. Practically insol in water. Sol in alcohol, ether, aq solns of the alkalies. Forms a water-sol sodium salt.

This is a controlled substance (depressant): 21 CFR, 1308.13. Not to be confused with mephobarbital, q.v.
