Description and references
Usually with an excess of oleic acid. Contains
about 21% anhydr quinine.
Properties
Brown, thick liquid. Insol in water. Sol in
alcohol, ether, oils, petr ether.Use
Has been credited with opacity to ultraviolet rays
and suggested as prophylactic against sunburn, applied as a 5-10%
ointment. A soln of the oleate without excess of oleic acid in petr
naphtha has been recommended for mothproofing of fabrics.
