The Merck Index is now available on MedicinesComplete

This first release of The Merck Index (version 14.1) includes all the updated material released since the 14th print edition was published in 2006.

The Merck Index is a world renowned reference source for chemical, pharmaceutical and biomedical information that contains more than 10,000 monographs, 28 supplemental tables, and 450 organic name reactions. For over 100 years, The Merck Index has provided critically evaluated, peer-reviewed, and authoritative information on compounds of significance in research, commerce, and environmental impact.

Compound descriptions and key facts include capsule statements identifying compound classes and scientific significance, chemical structures, physical properties, an extensive collection of synonyms, and citations to patents and scientific literature.

The database contains over 900 retired monographs archived from previous editions and a Therapeutic Category Index with over 370 classifications hyperlinked to more than 4000 monographs.

The Organic Name Reactions include reactions schema and key references. The Supplemental Tables comprise a collection of hard-to-find biomedical and chemical information, for example the chemical and biomedical acronyms, vaccines, amino acids found in proteins, and radioactive isotopes used in medicine.
