Ethylene Oxide Solution R2

Prepare immediately before use. Weigh 1 g of cold ethylene oxide stock solution (equivalent to 2.5 mg of ethylene oxide) into a cold flask containing 40.0 g of cold polyethylene glycol 200 R1. Mix and determine the exact weight and dilute to a calculated weight to obtain a solution containing 50 µg of ethylene oxide per g of solution. Weigh 10 g into a flask containing about 30 mL of water, mix and dilute to 50 mL with water (10 µg per mL of ethylene oxide).

Prepare immediately before use.

The solution can be prepared using commercially available reagents instead of ethylene oxide stock solution, making appropriate dilutions.
