Definition

Dilute Ammonia Solution contains 10% w/w of ammonia. It is prepared by diluting Strong Ammonia Solution with freshly boiled and cooled Purified Water.

9.5 to 10.5% w/w.

Assay

Weigh 6 g into 50 mL of 1m hydrochloric acid VS and titrate the excess of acid with 1m sodium hydroxide VS using methyl red solution as indicator. Each mL of 1m hydrochloric acid VS is equivalent to 17.03 mg of NH3.

When ammonia solution is prescribed or demanded, Dilute Ammonia Solution shall be dispensed or supplied.
