The CRO, which is concerned about continuous improvement of service to all clients, will document each substantive issue and its resolution, thereby, creating a database for future reference by project teams. |

The lessons learned in each project should be reviewed with the sponsor and the CRO's project team periodically during an extended study and at the time of completion. This exercise will support process improvement in each organization and should help build a long-term relationship between the parties. |

As in many settings of contemporary human interaction, the negative experiences of a sponsor/CRO collaboration are often given most attention, and inordinate amounts of time and effort may be directed to finding fault. Far greater benefit will accrue to both sponsors and CROs by examining what worked and how to avoid negative experiences in the future. Numerous professional meetings and publications have addressed relationships between sponsor and CRO that have or have not been successful [3,4]. Past and future open forums are sure to be helpful guides to sponsors and CROs embarking on new collaborations. |
